Event Security
Security across the full event lifecycle
An event is at its most vulnerable outside its opening hours. Equipment arrives before fencing is complete. Staging, power and AV infrastructure stand unattended overnight. During derig, site discipline drops while high-value assets move through open gates.
MAST provides event security across all three phases: build, live operation and derig. Our SIA-licensed personnel manage crowd safety and access control while the event runs, and protect infrastructure, plant and equipment while it does not.
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act, known as Martyn's Law, places new duties on venues and event organisers to assess and reduce the risk of terrorism at their sites. We help duty holders meet these obligations with proportionate, documented security planning.
Crowd safety and crowd management
Our personnel are SIA-licensed and trained in crowd dynamics, conflict de-escalation and emergency response. We deliver:
- Crowd management and stewarding across entrances, pits and public areas
- Access control, ticket checks and search regimes
- Ejections and incident response, recorded and reported
- Response teams for medical, safeguarding and lost person incidents
- Liaison with police, event control and emergency services
We build staffing plans around the event profile: audience size, demographic, licensing conditions and site layout. Deployment numbers, briefing packs and command structure are agreed with the organiser before the first shift.
Infrastructure protection: build, live and derig
Event infrastructure is exposed for days or weeks either side of the event itself. We provide:
- Site security during build, including gate control, delivery checks and contractor sign-in
- Overnight guarding of staging, structures, plant and AV equipment
- Asset protection during the live phase, covering back of house, compounds and storage
- Controlled derig, maintaining gate discipline while equipment and vehicles leave site
The same team can run all three phases, which keeps site knowledge, access records and handovers consistent from first delivery to final load-out.

Assess
We carry out a site visit and risk assessment covering crowd profile, site layout, ingress and egress, and threat context, including Martyn's Law obligations where they apply.

Plan
We produce a crowd management plan, staffing schedule and infrastructure specification, agreed with the organiser and aligned with licensing conditions.

Secure the build
Personnel deploy from the first delivery: gate control, contractor management and overnight guarding of structures and equipment.

Deliver the event
Licensed officers manage crowds, access and incidents throughout the live phase, with clear reporting into event control.

Manage the derig
We maintain access control and asset protection until the site is clear, then provide a full incident and occurrence log at handover.
Secure barriers and fencing with Event & Media Structures
We work with our partner Event & Media Structures to supply and install secure event infrastructure: crowd control barriers, pit barriers, Heras-style fencing and pedestrian routing.
Combining personnel and physical infrastructure under one plan has practical benefits. Barrier lines are positioned where crowd flow, sightlines and staffing levels support them. Fencing is specified against the site risk assessment rather than as an afterthought. One point of contact covers both.
FAQ
Are your event staff SIA-licensed?
Yes. All security personnel deployed to events hold current SIA licences. Stewarding roles that do not require a licence are filled by trained stewards working under licensed supervisors.
Does Martyn's Law apply to my event?
The Act applies to qualifying premises and events based on capacity thresholds. If you are unsure whether your event qualifies, we can assess this as part of our initial site review and advise on proportionate measures.
Can you provide security before and after the event itself?
Yes. We cover the full lifecycle: site build, live operation and derig. Most infrastructure losses occur outside event hours, so we recommend continuous cover from first delivery to final load-out.
Do you supply barriers and fencing as well as personnel?
Yes. Through our partner Event & Media Structures we supply and install crowd control barriers, pit barriers and site fencing, specified alongside the staffing plan.
How far in advance should we engage you?
Earlier is better. Involving us at the planning stage means crowd management, licensing input and infrastructure can be designed together. We can also support shorter lead times where required.
