Kempston Rovers V Bishops Stortford 0-7 – Report by Archie Pyle
This weekend they played their second match of the season against Kempston Rovers away from home. Bishops Stortford started the game with only two subs. They kicked off with an amazing first ten minutes when David Davidson slotted the ball into the bottom left corner after some great passing and build-up play. Stortford went on to score another goal just 5 minutes later with a great header off the crossbar and in by David Davidson. Kempston Rovers had a few chances to get the ball into the box but were denied by the full-back Alex Bromham.
The passing from Bishops Stortford was incredible Kempston couldn’t touch the ball. A wonder ball came in from a clearance at the back to Ben Smith who chipped the ball over the keeper to make it three-nil at half time. Two substitutions were made for Bishops Stortford at half time. After half time Kempston rovers were not going down without a fight, they started the second half with some good passing, then about ten minutes into the second half Bishops Stortford had a corner, on the left side, the ball was whipped in, to the back post where Rockey Bowater scored an outstanding header. Kempston still wanted a goal and was not going to give up.
They won a few fouls in the Stortford half but Stortford was too strong and kept Kempston out. Ben Smith achieved another goal when he ran through on goal from a perfectly placed pass. That made it five-nil. A cracking cross came in from the right side to where it met Stan Barton to put it home from about six yards out. Ben Smith grabbed his third goal of the afternoon when Kempston where under the pressure and could not get the ball out the box, there were about 5 shots blocked before Ben Smith put it the ball in the net and made it seven nil. Overall a great first win of the season from the Bishops Stortford EJA U15.
