As sponsors and with MAST’s heritage in the maritime security, our CEO Phil Cable attended this annual charity event hosted by ICON Connect to mark the end of the London to Monaco bike ride in support of the Blue Marine Foundation.
66 riders arrived with a police escort which took them through Monaco to arrive at the Musee Oceanographique de Monaco to a champagne reception that marked the end of the Blue Marine Foundation’s annual ride from London to Monaco.
This year’s ride spanned 8 days and the riders covered 900km of Spanish Basque country, French Pyrenees, olive groves of Provence, and some sections of Europe’s Grand Tours. A total of 102 riders have taken part in different chapters of the ride, with a shared aim of raising £500,000,000 for the Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE). All funds raised from this year’s ride will go towards supporting BLUE’s projects in the Ascension Island, Maldives, Patagonia, Cyprus, Namibia and Azerbaijan.
Now in its fourth year, London to Monaco is BLUE’s largest individual fundraising event. An impressive £456,000 was raised for ocean conservation over the course of last year’s ride. In addition to supporting BLUE’s projects on Ascension Island, St Helena, the Maldives, Aeolian Islands, the Solent and Lyme Bay, money raised has also helped to combat plastic pollution in the Mediterranean with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
