Ivory Coast: maritime waters “secure” against piracy

Ivory Coast on Thursday presented a new patrol boat, the last stage of an effort to secure its maritime space after a rise of piracy in recent years,  we have learned from military sources.

“The Shield” is the third ship acquisition of the Ivorian fleet to combat piracy thriving in the Gulf of Guinea, which had finally hit in 2012 Côte d’Ivoire, regional economic power.

“Since the acquisition of our three patrol boats, Ivorian waters are secure (…) we regularly boat trips,” said AFP lieutenant Ghislain Guié commander “The Shield,” during a boat presentation ceremony to the press.
